I had a Peace & Justice Center event today, but I had to hold it in some weird room in the upstairs floor because my landlord continues to muck around with the floor on the bottom floor. It was well attended though, we had like 12 people or so crowd into the small room and have a lively discussion about Venezuela. After that, I played a show at the Odd Fellows lodge with Marxist Jargon and Sean Duck. It was really fun! It was a joy to see everybody.

January 30th, 2026

Today Mae and I took Kitty to the vet in the morning, and we had an interesting conversation with one of the veternarians about when the best time to actually put her down will be. The vet claimed that we would know when the time came, and since we weren't sure yet, it probably wasn't the time. So we will continue caring for Kitty for a while longer. After that, I went to the huge anti-ICE protest that happened downtown. It was fun when we took over one of the main streets! After that, I went to Folino's to celebrate my friend Skunk on her birthday. And then I went home and slept!

January 29th, 2026

Today was such a long work day! I had the clean up crew in the morning, and then I had to do all the things I wasn't able to do over the last few days due to me being unable to access the office, and then I had to table at UVM for an hour, and then I had to host the Solarpunk book club + game night. Whew! And then I had choir after that to top it all off! Thursdays are crazy. But someone new came to my Solarpunk Book Club. Her name was Cameron, and she was lovely! I'm so happy somebody came! Trang and Jeremy also stopped by the office and we filmed the scene for my Mothership Monthly Film Festival entry. Now we just have to see if I can actually succeed in editing it!

January 28th, 2026

With any luck, this will have been the last day I spent working from home! In theory, the PJC is supposed to be back open tomorrow, so I can head there after Clean Up Crew. Today I had another weird boring day at home, until I got to go to swapluck and see Jeremy, Trang, Kiana, Claire, Sofia, and so many other friends. Mae and I had more hard conversations about Kitty and what we plan to do with her. I don't think we really know still. What is the ethical thing to do in this situation? She is clearly not living the same quality of life that she was living even a year ago, but that still doesn't necessarily mean that it is time to put her down. I don't know. We will just have to continue talking, I suppose.

January 27th, 2026

Today was yet another day staying home because of the landlord at the PJC. I did get to see Trang, June, Patty, and Jeremy briefly though, we made banana bread. Trang also read me one of her fantastic poems, which was very awe inspiring. I have talented friends! My friend Michelle also came over for a while and we caught up, it had been a long time since I had seen Michelle. We talked about her life and what she has been up to for the past few months. After that, I went and picked up Mae from the airport - I'm so happy she is finally home! We have been having some hard conversations about Kitty and what we are going to do with her. I hope that this decision becomes clearer as time goes on.

January 26th, 2026

The landlord of the PJC building is still doing some kind of work on it, so I've been banished from going into the PJC for three more days. So I've had to figure out a way to work from home, which has been a bit of a struggle, but it's nice to spend time with my kitty. I went to cook night today and made some pizza with cheese that was originally part of a cheese stick - we shredded it using a cheese grater from stick form. I will be curious to know if it actually tastes good! Other than that, I continued reading The Soul of Baseball, which I have almost finished. Didn't do much else today! It is fun that there is so much beautiful snow on the ground. I have been enjoying that.

January 25th, 2026

Today was an exceptionally slow day, because almost everything got cancelled due to the very cold weather. Therefore, I chilled at home all day long and read The Soul of Baseball. That's really all I did! I surfed the web, I ate some food, I read and read, I played guitar. It was a Kason sits at home and noodles around all day kind of day. Which was very relaxing and good.

January 24th, 2026

Today was a day filled with very complicated emotions. I was heartbroken by the murder of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. I'm absolutely tired beyond belief over all the murders and atrocities committed by ICE. I expect that is exactly what the administration wants me to feel. They want to exhaust us all with their evil so we give up and let them rule. But they really can't begin to understand the amount of beauty that still exists in my life and the life of all free people. So they don't even know what we are fighting for, because they don't even know what love is. Love is certainly a force powerful enough to keep us going.
Puzzle Palooza was really good, both as a distraction and also as an event in general. We got second place, only falling about four minutes behind the winning team. I was also able to record the theme song for the Burlington Future Show with Jeremy, and I got to play 30 second mysteries with Kiana. Love was certainly experienced today, despite the horrors. Alex Pretti loved, and so his 37 years will be worth more than all the fascist's lives combined.

January 23rd, 2026

Today I worked from home again because of the still ongoing renovation project at the PJC, but the fun part of that was that I wrote the theme song for the CCTV show that I'm doing! I hopefully get to record it sometime this weekend so it will be ready for the first real interview episode I'm filming on Monday. After work, I went and saw OBEX with Dee at Partizanfilm. It was a great movie! It took a while for it to really sink in for me, but I always love Albert Birney. We also went to Queer Country Line Dancing, which is always a great time. Dee is wonderful and I always enjoy hanging out with them! I'm excited for Puzzle Palooza tomorrow!

We actually had a pretty good turnout for Clean Up Crew this morning, which was remarkable given almost none of the regulars were able to make it. Other than that, the only major thing that happened today is that I hosted an author at the PJC, and she was very kind and gave the PJC a signed copy of her book for the library, which is always a wonderful thing. I've been reading The Soul of Baseball by Joe Posnanski, and have been really enjoying it. I might add a section on this website that just lists all the books I've read. I was going to list all the films I've watched and music I've listened to as well, but I realize you can find all that just by looking at my Rate Your Music page.See you tomorrow! I'm excited to hang out with Dee tomorrow.

Just barely got back from swampluck, it was great! June is spinning a bunch of yarn from wool they found in a compost pile, which is really impressive. It was good to see Kiana, Jeremy, Trang, and Luna, and we met a new friend named Afiyah also! I brought two vegan pizzas, one without any vegan cheese so people who are repulsed by that could still have some pizza. Other than swapluck, I had to work from home today because the renovation work on the building that contains the PJC is still ongoing. Hopefully they are done with enough of it tomorrow that we can still hold our author talk. I have to wake up early because it is yet another clean up day, and I already know in advance that Dee is not coming. How am I ever going to motivate myself to roll out of bed without Dee being there? Who knows! We'll find out in about 8 hours!

January 20th, 2026

I went into the office today and the new landlord is still doing some kind of renovation on the building, so it was excessively noisy the whole time! Which was definitely a big bummer. Before I went into the office, I drove Mae to the airport - she will be gone for a whole week! I will miss her so much! I hope that she has fun in Utah. After work, I hung out with Kat, who told me about the northern lights being visible in Vermont. We drove to Sand Bar State Park and looked, it was so lovely! It wasn't quite as intense as the time I saw them a few summers ago, but it was still beautiful, and it was great to spend time with Kat. Looking forward to Swapluck tomorrow!

I didn't have to work today because it was MLK Day! Which gave me a beautifully relaxing morning. Then I got to go hang out with Jeremy, which was so much fun and cute and I enjoyed it very much. Then I went to cook night, where I made an amazing Butternut Squash soup that I was truly very proud of, even though I don't even like butternut squash. It blended much better than I expected it to, and we made so much! After that, I went to the Old North Ender and said goodbye to my friend Evie, who is going on an extended vacation for a few months. What a day!

January 18th, 2026

Today I watched a really great film at Partizanfilm, Resurrection, which I highly recommend. Mae thought it was just okay when they saw it at VTIFF, but I thought it was brilliant and worked really well. I also sang in the church choir this morning, of course! As a congregation, we blessed our deacon and sent her to Minneapolis on a service mission, which felt very poignant and powerful. We basically asked God to protect our deacon from ICE. Other than that, I finished Life After Cars, so now I know all the reasons cars are bad, and also what we have to do about it. As always, bike and walk baby.

Today I talked in the voice from this video, which was shown to me a few weeks ago by Jeremy and Trang. I showed it to Kiana, and then we proceeded to talk like this for like three hours. It was a problem. I led a zine and button making workshop at the PJC today, and Trang and Bennie came, and it was good to see Bennie! After the workshop, Mae and I went to the opening of a play by our friend Gina, and it was so good! Very vulnerable and confessing. We then went to Wilder Wines, which is a great spot. And now I am home getting ready to read more of Life After Cars.

January 16th, 2026

I must confess that I am writing this entry fully the next night, because last night I was in no state to be journaling. I ate an edible with Kiana and watched An Extremely Goofy Movie, which I remembered as being a lot better, probably because I was a little kid when I loved it. It is still definitely one of the better direct-to-video Disney sequels, but still, it's not a fantastic film. Other than that, I got super giggly and then super tired and sleepy, which is apparently what always happens when I take an edible. I'm learning! The one kid that the DARE program worked on is trying new things. I also saw the film Cactus Pears at Partizanfilm, and that was a fantastic film. Cinema.

January 15th, 2026

This morning was a pretty boring clean up crew day, because Dee wasn't able to come! They were sick. I brought them some soup and some bread, so I hope that made them feel a little bit better. Later I hosted my Solarpunk Book Club finally, but sadly, nobody but Kiana came. I was bummed because I put so much work into preparing for it, and yet, it didn't attract any readers. I'll try it for two more Thursdays to see if I can attract anybody, but I might also retool it if nothing comes of it. I also went to choir today, which was great. It's always good to sing. I'm excited about some of the music we are doing.

Currently listening to "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy. Honestly it feels like you can see and feel all the beauty of living when you listen to this. You can see bohemians in Paris in 1898, you can see people walking in New York City in 1995, you can see lovers rejoicing at reuniting in 2011 - it's all in this piece. It's so wonderful.
I had a nice day today, I hosted swapluck and got to see Claire, Kiana, Mercy, Jeremy, Trang, June, Chris, and other friends! Swapluck is of course an ongoing miracle, and I'm so grateful every week that I exist in community with a free store and friends. Other than that, I worked and prepared for my solarpunk book club tomorrow. Looking forward to going to sleep and waking up early for the Clean Up Crew!

Tonight I watched this very strange but good film called Dream Scenario with Mae, starring Nicolas Cage, wherein the Nicolas Cage character starts appearing in people's dreams. It's very clearly a critique of influencer culture, cancel culture, and a bunch of other things. It was well done and I enjoyed it! I also got a new pair of shoes, and they are very bright and colorful in a way that will probably delight me every morning when I get to put them on. I ate China Express 2 for dinner, sesame tofu, because of course I did. Now I'm just sitting here thinking about how much I love everyone in my life. Thanks for reading!

I just got back from Partizanfilm, I saw the film The Plague, and it was very disturbing. What an accurate depiction of the horror of being a young teenage boy. I got flashbacks to bullies I hadn't remembered in more than a decade. It was a very well-made film, but also one of those movies I probably don't want to see ever again. Other than that, today I worked and went to cook night. Cook night was really fun, we actually had a bunch of people show up even though Yvie, Sydney, and Caro are all gone. It's so great that this community always steps up to fill in any gaps. I made some soup that was ultimately mediocre, but passable. At least the potatoes in the soup cooked really well.

January 11th, 2026

Today was kind of a wild day that came unexpectedly! I hung out with my new friend Jackie, who I met through the Clean Up Crew, and it turns out, Jackie is very wealthy. Her father was the CEO of some bank, and so Jackie herself has a lot of money. We went shopping on Church St and Jackie kept offering to buy me things, including very expensive things, and I had to keep turning her down! I eventually relented and let her buy me something from Bickford USA, but the thing was solidly $100. That's wild! I did tell Jackie that I would love to talk to her father about donating to the Peace & Justice Center, so I've got that going for me. Jackie is otherwise a very kind and wonderful person, and I'm happy to be her friend, but the unexpected wealth was so surprising! After hanging out with Jackie, I went to the Burlington Odd Fellows for their craft night. I think I'm gonna join the Odd Fellows at some point, because who among us doesn't want to join a secret organization at some point in their life. Also they are doing good stuff! That was basically my crazy day.

January 10th, 2026

I didn't miss this day, even though I am currently updating my journal from Kiana's house! I am just using Kiana's laptop. Haha! Look at that! I didn't do much this morning, but then I hung out with Kiana for most of the afternoon and evening, starting at around 4pm. We watched Mulan II, which was a very silly movie, but watching unnecessary Disney sequels is one of my favorite things to do with Kiana. We then played the game 30 second mysteries, which I've never played before, and it was so fun! I'm now probably going to read some of The War on Cars. It has been a good Saturday! Kiana also showed me some new vegan ramen that we apparently have at Always Full, which is big news for me. I will definitely go get some and add that to my regular ramen repertoire. That is all!

I confess that once again, I am writing this entry the next day! I had a great night last night, though. I went to Brandon Idol in Brandon, Vermont, which was one of the cutest things I think I've ever seen. I got to spend so much time with Dee, learning all about their life and how they came to Vermont and how they came to be so wonderful. It was such a great experience! I even got a Brandon Idol button, which I will of course keep forever. Nothing much else happened because while I went into the office, I forgot my computer at home, so I had to just walk right back home and work from home for the rest of the day. Dee picked me up at 5:30, and away we went to Brandon - and then I came home and went to bed!

I confess that I am actually writing this on the morning of the next day, so I finally missed a journal update on the actual day! In my defense, it was a long workday - I had Clean-Up Crew in the morning, and had to take notes at the NPA Meeting in the evening. The Clean-Up Crew day was really eventful in a bad way - the west-side crew, not led by me, encountered an unresponsive person in the park and had to call EMS. The person later passed away at the hospital. It made me so heartbroken to hear about it, especially the day after we were all mourning the murder of Renee Good in Minneapolis. It really is just one battle after another in this broken world. I did read Renee Good's poetry, which she won an award for in 2020. I highly recommend everybody check it out, it's so beautiful. I just got back from picking up Kiana from the airport! Earlier today I went to swapluck with Trang, Jeremy, June, Patty, and Alala. I talked with Alala about Mormon things I didn't know about. I was today years old when I learned that Mormons also do sealings for the dead and not just baptisms. That was a crazy thing for me to learn! I have also been enraged about the ICE murder that happened in Minneapolis. I hope that people come together and stand against this rising tide of fascism. We can build such a better world if we work together, and that's something that I will always believe. I feel like I see it nearly everyday in Burlington, with Food Not Bombs, Swampluck and the Free Store, etc. All the pieces are there for a solarpunk utopia, we just have to do it.

Today I finished watching the movie Sentimental Value with Mae, and I also deposited a bunch of the donations we recieved over the holiday season for the PJC. Sentimental Value was great! I enjoyed it, although I think I ultimately preferred this director's last film to this one. I am still reading Life After Cars, and the chapter today was about how awful cars are to our natural environment. There was stuff in there I had never heard, like I didn't know that Salmon in the Pacific Northwest are dying due to the runoff from car tires. There are so many reasons to hate cars, and you just learn more every day! I can't wait to learn what new horror I will learn about cars tomorrow. I also read a bunch of stuff from Venezuelan anarchists to get a better handle on the libertarian socialist perspective on the Chavez/Maduro regime. Seems like there are a lot of differing opinions on it, but as usual, governments be bad.

It was kind of a bummer going back to work today, but it was also reinvigorating to walk outside in the beautiful snowfall that we had today. I'm just now realizing that if you were a complete stranger that found this site, you'd be given so little context to what I'm saying that it would almost be impossible to follow. Either that, or it would play out like an elaborate mystery and you'd try to piece together clues from every entry. I hope that one day somebody in the far future somebody finds this and tries to piece together the missing pieces.
Today I am having one of those days when I am particularly proud to be part of the anarchist tradition, and not part of the Marxist tradition or any other left-wing tradition that forces people to parrot certain party lines or ways of thinking. I think the world is genuinely nuanced, and there are multiple perspectives to most events, and anarchists have the freedom to explore all of those nuances and still abide by anti-authoritarian, liberatory, communalistic principles. It's great!

I'm currently listening to the Prefab Sprout album Steve Mcqueen which I just remembered I discovered recently. It's so good! I had a pretty good day today despite everything. I went to a Queer Baskerball event at the YMCA with a few friends, and it was so fun to play a sport. I also went to Poker Night with the gang, and it had been a while since I went to that. I won some money! I otherwise had a pretty relaxing day. I am not looking forward to work starting back up next week, although I suppose it will be nice for there to be a routine again. I am certainly looking forward to all of my friends coming home!

Today was a very sad day, because like everyone else in the world, I woke up this morning with the news that the US military bombed Venezuela and kidnapped President Maduro. It's wild that US leaders never learn that regime change simply doesn't work, and always leads to more suffering for everybody. Why do people keep trying the same nonsense and expecting different results? At least this time, Trump was honest enough to admit that the whole thing was because US oil companies want to control the oil fields in Venezuela. Refreshing that we didn't have to listen to some nonsense about it being about freedom or democracy or something. Genuinely, I spent most of the day fixated on this and frustrated that this is the world that we live in. I always feel so powerless when things like this happen, because even though I am so frustrated and upset, there is very little I can do to make a difference. So I have to just sit in the pain, knowing that war is likely and suffering is likely and I can't do anything to help. This is why I often focus so much more on local issues, but it doesn't change the fact that things like this make me feel so helpless and sad.

I'm currently singing that supposedly AI generated song that I believe trended on Tiktok last year, about how girls would rather have an ungodly amount of cocaine than a man. I don't know why I'm singing it right now, but if you click here, you can get it stuck in your head too! I had a very relaxing day today for the most part, although I did have to go into the PJC for a few minutes because my work nemesis emailed me and told me that they needed me to print out checks for them, the day directly after a holiday! Other than that, I took a very long nap, ate Pingala for breakfast, ate pizza for dinner, and hung out with some of my friends at T.Ruggs to celebrate Jaz returning from Guatemala. It was a good day!

I had a really enjoyable holiday break, capped off with an amazing New Year's Day! I went to my friend Patrick's house for a New Year's Brunch, and then slept most of the rest of the day. I then decided to finally make this journal website. I hope it looks exactly as lo-fi as I intended it to look! I've been reading the book War on Cars, which I also received for Christmas. I agree with everything in it, so it's not really challenging me, but it's fun to sometimes be affirmed in the things we already think. I am missing my friends who are away for the holiday, particularly Kiana, who has been in California for such a long time already. However, this has been a truly relaxing Christmas holiday, which is saying something after all the many years that these days have been stressful. I'm looking forward to all the amaazing memories I know I'm going to make in 2026, which will all be documented in this journal! You, journal, are my new year's resolution, so I hope that you are excited to participate in this with me.
It's sort of strange that people needed Twitter, Facebook, and the like in order to scream their thoughts into the void, when the ability to do this has been around as long as the interent. Here you go void. Here are my thoughts. I'll see you tomorrow!
