Today I felt a little bit sicky, so I stayed home mostly. Chloe came over for a bit and brought me some soup, and I burned a CD for her to give to her new love interest. That was fun! Other than that, I watched some of the Olympics with Mae, and tried my best to drink as much water as I could so as to ensure I would feel better tomorrow. Let's hope that it worked!

Another long Thursday! The clean up crew this morning was good, although Dee also did not come, which is always a bummer. After clean up, I hung out with Brooke for a little while. We discussed Marxism because Brooke has a bunch of friends on Instagram that keep using very academic Marxist jargon to describe their (honestly, in my opinion, abhorrent) views, and I sort of helped her decode some of it. After that, I went to work and had a board meeting. Then I went to choir. After choir, I went to the Comedy Club and saw a bunch of people I love, including Allie, Jayden, Austin, Robert, Sofia, Leila, Anna, and more! Sofia and I then went to JPs and sang some karaoke, and now I am home. I also bought an issue of Absolute Superman, since I'm determined to get into comic books now.

Today I spent a good portion of the day at the Federal courthouse, waiting for the results of an immigration hearing. Hussein was released! It was sort of a magical moment, when we got to celebrate with his family and all of our neighbors that our neighbor was not being deported to a far off country. At the same time, we had to experience the tragedy of hearing that one of our other neighbors was kidnapped by ICE. It was all very bittersweet, terrible, and also beautiful celebrating with Hussein's family. One battle after another. I also went to swapluck briefly and delivered some soup to Kiana, who is feeling a bit sick today. I was sad that we didn't get to hang out at swapluck as we usually do. It was good to see June and Jeremy though. And now I'm about to go to sleep and enjoy my very busy Thursday tomorrow.

Today I went to work again, and also eventually ended up at Partizanfilm again. I saw the film Arco with Mae, and I think it may have been the first time I've actually seen a film flirt with solarpunk. It was a beautiful film, and I enjoyed it! We also ate some food at Thai in the Alley, which is a new spot that replaced BKK in the Alley - and tbh, it is some really good Thai food! Highly recommend! Then we just came home and cuddled and now I'm writing this journal entry. I'm happy that the February page has officially started!

Today I went to work, but before I got to the office, I stopped by City Hall and participated in my first City Circle meeting! Nobody actually showed up that needed to participate in the restorative justice program, so instead, we just talked with each other and learned more about how we are preparing for people actually arriving. The Community Justice Center is extremely cool in its potential and I'm excited to work with it more! After work, I went to cook night where I made some French Toast sticks, and then I went and saw the film All That's Left of You at Partizanfilm. All in all, a great day!

Truthfully I took a few days to update this, so this is being written on the Tuesday after this Sunday! But I remember pretty well what I did this previous Sunday. I sang in Church first, and then tried to go the Media Factory to edit my Mothership Monthly Film Fest movie, but the Media Factory closed too early! So I had to run home and try to edit my film on this very laptop, which I ended up able to do using the software Kdenlive. I'd never used Kdenlive before, but it worked just fine! All in all, I probably spent about 10 hours on the film, and it turned out, you know, fine. Good enough to submit and laugh at MMFF.
